A Heart introspection- Are you intentional?

This week I had brief conversations with two young adults questioning their faith. During my first encounter with a woman we will call Shaina, she revealed that her struggle with her faith was in direct correlation to the many questions that she has asked that no one has been able to answer. In some cases, she has received what we would call "Christian-neese" responses such as, "You should not question God" or "Just trust the Lord." These responses and others have left her questioning whether there is a God. During our conversation, I offered my availability to answer different questions she may have regarding God and the Bible during our future interactions. She appeared enthusiastic and concluded our conversation by saying, I have many questions and am looking forward to it.

My second encounter was with, we will call her, Marrell, she stated that she respects people's desire to believe in God, but she thought the concept was ludicrous. As our conversation continued, she began to ask me questions such as God's position on woman pastors and how we know which Bible is accurate because of the different versions and various changes made to the Bible over time. Although our time was limited, I was able to provide context to her questions that began to create the idea of a new reality and the possibility of God being real. She told me she wanted to learn more and found the topics about God and Christianity intriguing.

Interestingly, as I pondered on both encounters, I drew a few conclusions from my interactions.

1. Many people are seeking answers to their questions about God and the Bible. Often these questions are not being answered, or people are questioning the authenticity of the sources.

2.      There are numerous opportunities for us to be a light for Christ for someone questioning having a personal relationship with Christ. As believers in Christ, we must be intentional.

3.      We must remember the Holy Spirit is the convincer who draws people to Christ. As believers in Christ, we must be available, working with the Holy Spirit when prompted, and demonstrating love, compassion, and wisdom.

My question for the day to the Believer in Christ is, “Are you intentionally available for those seeking truth?”

2 Timothy:1-2 (The Message)

I can’t impress this on you too strongly. God is looking over your shoulder. Christ himself is the Judge, with the final say on everyone, living and dead. He is about to break into the open with his rule, so proclaim the Message with intensity; keep on your watch. Challenge, warn, and urge your people. Don’t ever quit. Just keep it simple.
